Benign Skin Lesions

Pyogenic Granuloma

pyogenic granulomaPyogenic granuloma is a small red, oozing and bleeding bump, it is the overgrowth of unhealthy granular tissue in the wound, usually appearing on the head, neck, upper trunk and hands and feet. It usually develops after an individual sustains a minor injury and grows to about half an inch over a few weeks time. People very young or very old rarely experience it.

Pyogenic granulomas are usually either scraped off with an instrument or treated with chemicals. A radiofrequency device is commonly used to destroy the lesion. Laser surgery is another option but has not been proven to be more effective than other methods.
